The main objective of this study was to investigate the influence of learner autonomy and learning style on
students’ reading achievement at Senior High School Level in Rokan Hulu Regency. This study was a survey
research design. The respondents of this study were the second year students of Senior High School Level in
Rokan Hulu Regency. Total sampling was used. The total sample of this study was 177 students. After
analyzing the data by using Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) 21 version, it was obtained that
learner autonomy was in medium level (M=73.38, SD=10.27). For learning style variable, it was found out
that the majority of students’ learning style was Tactile learning style (69 or 38.8% students), visual verbal
learning style (55 or 30.9% students), visual nonverbal learning style (28 or 15.7% students) and auditory (25
or 14.0% students). Moreover, students’ reading achievement was in low level (M=11.96, SD=3.58). After
analyzing by using multiple regressions, the finding showed that there was influence of learner autonomy
and learning style on students’ reading achievement at Senior High School Level in Rokan Hulu Regency in
which F=12.365, p=0.000<0.05. Then, the determination influence of learner autonomy and learning style
was R2=.124 (1.24%). Moreover, learner autonomy (β=.350 or 3.50%) showed higher influence rather than
learning style (β=.004 or 0.04%). Thus, hypothesis alternative stated that there was significant influence of
learner autonomy and learning style on students’ reading achievement at Senior High School Level in Rokan
Hulu Regency was accepted.
