Abstract

This study present the paving block palm oil fuel ash geopolymer cement as a substitute
material with the addition of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) to accelerate treatment room
temperature. The basic ingredients are ash geopolymer palm oil fuel ash and alkaline solutions are
used to activate the elements silica (Si) and Alumina (Al) in the palm oil fuel ash is a mixture of
16M NaOH solution and the solution Na2SiO3. In each composition paving blocks OPC geopolymer
added as much as 35% of the weight of the palm oil fuel ash. Variations used is the ratio alkaline
solutions with palm oil fuel ash, Ms from 0.8 to 1.2. The test object paving block has a size of
20x10x6cm and treated at room temperature. This experiment is compressive strength and FTIR
(Fourier Transform Infra Red). Research results showed that the compressive strength of palm oil
fuel ash geopolymer paving block compressive strength will increase successively from 0.8 to 1.1
while Ms variation to Ms decreased 1.2 compressive strength. Testing FTIR (Fourier Transform
Infra Red) indicate a change in the structure of ions (NA+
, K+
) in the polymer is replaced by
hydrogen or hydronium ions and zeolite formation of several compounds that are weaker than the
bond geopolymer.
